Battle of Libušín

The largest Czech medieval historical festival "Battle of Libušín" was founded in 1991 as one of the first events of its kind in Europe. In 2024, we are organizing the 31st year of this important event, which over the years has grown into one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
The venue and date of the festival are not just random. The hill under which the Battle of Libušín takes place is dedicated to Saint George, the patron saint of knights. His holiday is April 24. The hill of St. George near Libušín as such is also connected with the beginnings of Czech statehood, as it is archaeologically proven that in the 10th century AD the Přemysl castle was located here. And so, quite characteristically, the medieval camp of all the performers is spread out under this hill. The period marketplace itself is located along the historic merchant trail as it was operated for centuries in the past.
The centerpiece of the entire festival is a scenic medieval battle with the participation of approximately a thousand fighters, in which we will introduce you not only to the ways of fighting and military tactics of individual periods of the Middle Ages, but also to see unrepeatable pyrotechnic effects, real stunts, drama and tension and a captivating exceptional spectacle based on a script inspired by real events from our medieval history.
The period camp can be visited with the whole family during the festival, where you can get to know the ways of medieval camping and life in individual historical periods, see with your own eyes the equipment of warriors and the ways of clothing of common people, get to know the craftsmanship of the period and also enjoy beautiful buy original products.
The accompanying program of the entire festival is also worth paying attention to, where you can watch the archery tournament, visit the children's corner or watch various showsthe sound of jugglers, jesters or even street performers. There is also a presentation of the medieval law of suffering, including a scenic demonstration of the execution, and you can spend the evenings with us by the fire or listening to concerts of medieval and folk music. You can also make your journey into the past deliciously pleasant in our pub, which offers a rich selection of drinks and food.
The Battle of Libušín Festival is a return to history full of knowledge, exceptional experiences and unusual entertainment for the whole family, which you must not miss.
