Battle of Libušín

The largest Czech medieval historical festival, the Battle of Libušín, was
founded in 1991 as one of the first initiatives of its kind in
Europe. In 2024 we will be organizing the 31st year of this important event,
which has grown over the years to become one of the largest of its kind
species in Europe.
Thanks to the accompanying program and the number of member countries that have joined it
will participate, we can say without exaggeration that this year will be the biggest
festival of its kind in the world in the last few years.
The location and date of the festival are not just a coincidence. The hill, under
where the Battle of Libušín takes place is dedicated to Saint George, the patron saint
knights. His feast day is April 24th. The hill of St. George near Libušín as

This year's new event will be a tournament in Knattleikr, a medieval full
contact ball game.
The traditional climax of the entire festival is of course a staged medieval battle with the participation of thousands of fighters, in which we will present not only the methods of fighting and military tactics of the various periods of the Middle Ages, but also unique pyrotechnic effects, real stunt performances, as well as drama, suspense and a captivating exceptional spectacle according to a scenario inspired by real events from Czech history.
