As part of this year's Battles of Libušín festival, there will also be a Combat Fencing Tournament. After last year, when we offered the World Championship in full contact medieval combat as part of the accompanying program of the festival, this year we will present a more technical discipline that gives the opportunity to see medieval methods of combat from a different perspective.
A combat fencing tournament is a competition in medieval fencing, where the hits of the opponent made with correct technique are counted. The winner is the one who collects the most points within traditional fencing techniques, or Hits the opponent 3x in a way that would be fatal hits in real combat. Of course, everything is judged by qualified expert judges.
This year, as part of the Battle of Libušín festival, contestants will compete in the so-called allgotika tournament. So you will see opponents from different periods of the Middle Ages fighting each other, and you will be able to compare different fencing schools, different period tactics and different concepts of fencing as it changed and developed during the Middle Ages.
Opponents will fight each other in the disciplines 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2 and in a special, very attractive group category Bridges 5 vs. 5. The tournament will take place in a knock-out manner according to the spider, whose distribution will be determined by a fair draw.
Don't miss the tournament, which will showcase the exceptional art of swordsmanship techniques performed by fighters from different periods of the Middle Ages. The festival program will include a tournament on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The final of the top category Mosty 5x5 will take place at 2:30 p.m.
If you wish to participate in the tournament, you must take this into account when registering.
